The NT Independent is providing you with a light-hearted look at the candidates for the August 22 NT general election. We’re not looking at policy or platforms at this time, but rather at the person behind them.

Our Q&A should help you get to know the humans of NT politics.

Today’s profile is independent candidate for Daly, Mick Denigan.

Mick did not provide biographical information.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received and who did it come from?

From Bob Marley: “If you know where you are coming from then you wouldn’t have to ask who the Hell do I think I am – know your identity and move on?

Tell us something interesting or quirky about yourself.

I’m just your everyday Territory bloke.

How would your best mate describe you in twenty words or less?

My best mate’s a woman and she reckons I am just a man – sometimes a pain, sometimes amazing.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring one movie, one album and one book, what would they be?

Movie: Madagascar directed by Eric Darnell (I never get sick of that).

Album: The Very Best Of by The Eagles (I can dance to it and hopefully I have my best friend with me on the island).

Book: How to Build a Boat Out of Sea Weed, (desert islands can be hell on relationships!)

If you could have dinner with any person in history, who would it be and why?

A barbeque and a few beers with Neil Armstrong on the moon, maybe a few games of pool could be cool as well.

A couple of really quick questions. You can give one-word answers if you wish.

Tea or coffee?

None (not healthy for me).

Folder or scruncher?

When lighting a fire I scrunch the paper.

Wet season or dry season?

Both (get sick of one then the next one rocks up).

Coles or Woollies?

Both are good.
