The NT Independent is providing you with a light-hearted look at the candidates for the August 22 NT general election. We’re not looking at policy or platforms at this time, but rather at the person behind them.

Our Q&A should help you get to know the humans of NT politics.

Today’s profile is Ban Fracking Fix Crime Protect Water candidate for Blain, Rosemary Timber.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“Never give up”. It was said to me by my father David Timber. It is in the Bible too. I have wanted to give up many times, particularly the fight for One Mile Dam and the future of my family, friends and whoever needs help.

Tell us something interesting or quirky about yourself.

Once when we were fishing in a remote location, we found an orphan pony foal and rescued it. We made a halter out of vines. It was lost and very afraid. We took it back to Belyuen in the back of a stationwagon and it grew up and had a very good life.

How would your best mate describe you in twenty words or less?

“Spiritual, Christian, insightful, highly perceptive, down to earth. Nobody can lie to Rosemary and get away with it!” This is an actual quote from my best friend.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring one movie, one album and one book, what would they be?

Movie: Rango directed by Gore Verbinski.

Album: A Night at the Opera by Queen.

Book: The Bible.

If you could invite anyone in history to dinner, who would it be and why?

Donald Trump because it would be an interesting conversation.
