Detectives investigating the death of a man who was struck by a vehicle on the inbound lane of the Stuart Highway at Pinelands on Friday, February 27, have appealed to the public for witnesses or dashcam footage of the incident.

UPDATED: NT Police have located 20-year-old Murphy Ward who escaped from Corrections while in the custody of private firm G4S on Monday afternoon, but police had failed to inform the public that Ward was recently charged with a series of violent crimes, including aggravated assault and choking, strangling and suffocating.

A woman suffering “visible head injuries” is in hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car in Tennant Creek this morning, with two men in their 20s later arrested, NT Police said.

An NT Police auxiliary officer has been suspended with pay after being charged with obtaining a financial benefit by deception, police said in a statement.
