Police Commissioner Michael Murphy has ordered a three-day curfew for Alice Springs following days of serious incidents in the troubled town, that saw four off-duty police officers bashed and robbed over the weekend and another officer run over by a car outside a bottle shop late last week.

Offenders rammed the front gate of an Alice Springs business and stole three vehicles overnight, NT Police said.

Twelve people have been arrested, mostly young teens, following multiple stolen car chases across the Darwin area on Sunday morning, NT Police said, including one incident that saw the police’s dog operations unit vehicle rammed by car thieves during a pursuit.

Four off-duty police officers were allegedly robbed and assaulted by a group of 20 youths early Sunday morning, NT Police said, while it has been reported the Police Commissioner is considering another curfew for the town following the incident.

A child was killed and 10 people were injured in a car crash near Kalkarindji that police believe involved alcohol and a large number of unrestrained passengers, NT Police said.

The remains of a 12-year-old girl who went missing while swimming in a creek in the remote community of Palumpa have been located, NT Police said, following an extensive day-and-a-half search amid fears she had been killed by a crocodile.

NT Police are searching for a man armed with an “edged weapon” after he allegedly accosted two men in a CBD carpark on Thursday morning and attacked the pair before making off on a stolen scooter.

Youths allegedly stole two vehicles from a business in Katherine last week, with one driven dangerously through the streets, NT Police said.

A child is believed to have been taken by a crocodile in a remote Northern Territory creek yesterday afternoon, NT Police said.

This year’s Cracker Night celebrations have left several people injured, including a baby with facial burns, a burned-out community shed, a robbed KFC on Bagot Road, as well as reports of several youth intentionally firing fireworks at people, which the NT Police chalked up to “a good Territory Day” overall.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged for allegedly committing an indecent act on a child between the ages of 12 and 16, NT Police said.
