A spate of stolen cars and property damage in Alice Springs last week has led to officers from Darwin and other areas deployed to Central Australia as part of “Operation Archer”, which has recovered multiple vehicles and seen youths arrested, while one officer broke his ankle chasing suspects.
NT Police said on Sunday that the operation, led by Strike Force Viper, was successful in recovering seven stolen vehicles and apprehending five youths 14-and-under.
When is this farce going to end? “The nine and 11-year-olds have been released into the care of responsible adults, the 12-year-old will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act 2005 provisions” Meanwhile the two fourteen olds will be bailed and back on the streets in a heartbeat.
