NT Police are investigating a home invasion in Palmerston Sunday evening that involved seven people allegedly breaking into a Driver residence and killing a pet dog, injuring another animal and causing extensive property damage.

Police said the “violent incident” happened around 6:20pm, with seven individuals unlawfully entering a residence and causing the disturbance.

However, police did not provide many details about the alleged incident, but said some individuals had been identified.

“This incident is currently being investigated by the Gangs Task Force,” said Commander Matthew Hollamby in a statement.

“It is understood the offenders and victims are known to each other.

“This is horrible behaviour. A number of individuals have already been identified and they will be held to account.

“A pet dog has been violently killed and another seriously injured in a cowardly and organised attack. NT Police has zero tolerance for gang-related activity.”
