After more than 35 years performing, Yothu Yindi will inducted into the National Indigenous Music Awards Hall of Fame at the 2023 awards ceremony on Saturday night.
Awards creative director Ben Graetz said the band, which was established in 1986, brought together Yolngu and white musicians from the NT including Mandawuy Yunupiŋu, a founding member, and Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupiŋu, and is now fronted by Yirringa Yunupiŋu, who is Mandawuy’s nephew.

Better induct them quick smart!
