A 24-year-old Jingili man had his home raided by police on Friday where he was arrested and charged with multiple counts of possessing and accessing child abuse material, NT Police said.

The Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) executed the search warrant at his Jingili residence where they seized “a number of mobile devices” after it was alleged the man had engaged in “indecent conversations with children under the age of 16”.

“Police urge parents to consider their children’s online safety by reviewing their children’s online activity and the social media platforms that they use,” police said in a statement.

The man was charged with two counts of procuring a child under 16 for sexual activity, possessing child abuse material obtained via a carriage service, accessing child abuse material via a carriage service and transmitting indecent communication to a child under 16.

The man was remanded and expected to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

“The Northern Territory JACET team continue to investigate these incidents and further charges are expected,” police said.
