A woman was allegedly stabbed at the Darwin Botanic Gardens on Wednesday afternoon, NT Police said on Friday.
In a statement, police media manager Rob Cross said police had received a report of a woman being stabbed in the carpark area of Eva’s Café at around 5pm on Wednesday.
She was reportedly taken to Royal Darwin Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
A 34-year-old man who is known to the victim was arrested and is currently in custody, police said.
Mr Cross did not say if the man was arrested at the scene or presumably on Friday when the statement informing the public of the incident was released.
The suspect has been charged with unlawfully causing serious harm, aggravated assault and “possess/carry/use controlled weapon”.
He was expected to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
