Another passenger on Sunday’s London repatriation flight has tested positive for COVID-19 while in quarantine at Howard Springs, NT health authorities have said.

The 32-year-old woman, who had tested negative upon arrival on Sunday, was in “close contact” with the 29-year-old male who tested positive earlier this week, the government said.

“The woman has mild symptoms and remains under the care of the AUSMAT team at the (Howard Springs quarantine facility),” a statement from the NT Government said.

The couple were aboard Qantas flight QF110 with 171 passengers that departed Heathrow, London at 11:24am on Saturday and touched down at Darwin’s RAAF base at 12:38pm on Sunday.

There are now eight active cases of COVID-19 in the NT. All the patients remain under mandatory quarantine at the Howard Springs facility.

The first of the flights from London left for Darwin on October 22 with 161 Australian repatriates.

Another Qantas flight from London was expected to arrive today.

NT Health said all cases have been related to international or interstate travel, with no cases of community transmission. All eight cases remain under mandatory quarantine at the Howard Springs facility.

The Department of Chief Minister had previously said that Australians arriving in Darwin from overseas are a known higher risk group.
