Teenager charged over woman’s death in car crash

Major Crash Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 17-year-old male for being under the influence of drugs, among other charges, over a crash that killed a woman on Saturday.

NT Police media manager Rob Cross said in a statement the crash on McMillans Road at Knuckey Lagoon resulted in the death of a 24-year-old female.

Police said the woman died at the scene of the crash that happened about midday.

Mr Cross said the teen was charged with driving a motor vehicle causing death, driving without due car, driving with a prohibited drug in blood, being a P-plater using a mobile phone, possession of a schedule 2 drug less than a traffickable amount in public place, and possession of a thing to administer drug.

He has been bailed to appear in court on December 2.
