A woman has been charged after she allegedly stabbed another woman at the Palmerston bus interchange this morning, NT Police said.
Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 1:20am Tuesday police received a report that a woman had allegedly been stabbed with an edged weapon at the bus interchange in Palmerston by someone she knew.
“It is alleged the two women were involved in an argument before one assaulted the other with an edged weapon and fled the area,” Mr Wilton said.
“Police and St John Ambulance attended, and the 40-year-old victim was treated for injuries to her back before being conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious but stable condition.”
Mr Wilton said at an unspecified time this morning police found, and then arrested a 36-year-old alleged offender, who has since been charged with one count of an act intended to cause serious harm, and one count of possession and use of a controlled weapon. She has been remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
Police are asking anyone with information about the alleged stabbing to call them on 131 444 (quoting reference number NTP2500102269), or make an anonymous report by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through the Crime Stoppers website.
