A 14-year-old girl who was allegedly part of a group of four females who assaulted a woman and robbed her at a northern suburbs park was released on bail shortly after being arrested, with the three other females arrested and currently awaiting charges, NT Police said.
On January 2 at around 11pm, authorities said they received reports that a woman was robbed by a group of four individuals as she walked through MullaMulla park in Karama.
The woman told police that she was allegedly pushed to the ground by the thieves who then stole some of her belongings before fleeing the scene.
Police did not disclose what items were taken.
The victim received minor injuries, police said.
Almost two weeks after the incident, one of the offenders, a 14-year-old girl, was located and arrested Thursday night.
Police said they charged her with aggravated robbery but she was later released on bail.
The girl is set to appear in court on January 17.
A further three females, aged 16, 17, and 32 were also arrested on Friday morning.
All are expected to be charged with aggravated robbery today, police said.
No court date was provided for the three individuals.
“Police will not tolerate this sort of violent behaviour against members of our community,” Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Cottier said.
“We will continue to work relentlessly to ensure we do everything possible to put these offenders before the courts.”
