Ha!Ha!Ha! Selena, biggest scammer of all, remind us Selena, how much taxpayer $$$$ did you waste in your constituency???? throughout your short period of time as a liebor politician and gained a total of SFA????
Then there’s the purchasing of votes, seen and noticed by MANY in the communities…. free drinks(all taxpayer funded, really), free food, same…. then the MANY trips with Phoenix to communities, all taxpayer funded, to ‘catch up with family’ – you’re the worst…. let your own party members trash ‘your territory’ by NOT saying or doing anything to change it…. hippocrite
Stinks stinks stinks.
The timing, the whole prosecutorial debacle, the ‘Rules For Thee, Not For Me’ aspect of it from start to finish, the dragging out of the case for years just to stress, annoy, scare and try to bankrupt the person, the very obvious lying in our opinion from Selena Uibo (we bet there’s an email somewhere talking about this to her or her mentioning it to someone which will never see the light of FOI day), 2 Attorney Generals (and WTF is a bush school teacher doing as Attorney General anyway!) around that time and you want us to believe that one knew while the other didn’t, the petty nature of what’s happening generally, the ridiculous amount of tax payer money wasted and not disclosed AGAIN, the current DPP doing what sounds like a more blatant example of nepotism, the lack of consequences for him and Murphy, on and on it goes, deeper into the putrid public service swamp of 2 party duopoly Northern Territory politics.
Conspicuous by its absence: not a peep from an Independent about this nor the single Green MLA. If any of you lot have any aspirations for changing anything at all then at the very least you need to start making some noise, more noise, organising protests outside and inside Parliament, media releases, get yourselves interviewed on the radio more often, you’ve all gone silent and silence feels like acceptance which is not too far away from enabling.
Another example of the parallel universe that ICAC seems to be existing in. With that in mind we’ll leave you with this little gem of how little the fish are in the littlest of puddles.
Here is some of the other background stuff we’re up against, of particular note: “Greg Shamahan – master of navigating the public service”:
Meredith Day long time NT Government Solicitor becomes an NT Judge (she’s not the first and certainly won’t be the last), this is from her ceremonial sitting transcript of Aug 2024, online:
‘as a government solicitor with the Northern Territory Attorney-General’s Department including an extended period acting as the Chief Executive Officer of that department’
‘As had been the case with Hunt & Hunt, you quickly rose through the ranks – December 2007 to October 2008: temporary transfer to Department of Primary Industry; from October 2008: Director of the Legal Unit at Department of Health and Families; from 21 January 2013: Acting Director of Litigation; from October 2013: permanent Director of Litigation; from 28 January 2014: Acting Deputy Chief
Executive Officer of the Attorney-General’s Department; from June 2015: permanent Deputy CEO; 2018 and part of 2019: Acting CEO when Greg Shanahan, who is here today, was off for a year.’
‘Greg Shanahan tells a story of a dinner party at Fannie Bay Super Pizza shortly after Your Honour was appointed a Judge of the Local Court. The festivities were in full swing when Greg noticed that the newly minted Judge was reading something. Challenging Your Honour as to what could possibly be so interesting, Your Honour sheepishly produced the Sentencing Act.’
‘I also had the privilege of working with many outstanding people at the Solicitor for the Northern Territory and throughout government from 2005 to 2019. I was and am in awe of many of them. It is a great joy to see so many former colleagues from the Solicitor for the Northern Territory, the Attorney-General’s Department and NTG more broadly, in attendance. I want to give a special mention to Greg Shanahan, a person with a keen understanding of legal issues and master of navigating the public service. While no-one could match his expertise, Greg’s guidance equipped me with the skills necessary to effectively work in government. I very much value my friendship with Greg and Rachael and it is lovely that they are able to be here today also.’
1. Who made the decision to outsource the investigation and report into matters set out in the Operation Sirocco report and why? 2. What was the total itemised cost incurred by the NTG on conducting the investigation and preparing the report? 3. Why didn’t the former Labor Government release the report in the public interest? 4. How many other undisclosed investigations and reports have been undertaken by ICAC?
Whilst the legislation used in the witch hunt may have allowed warrants to be granted for the invasion of privacy regarding financial delving and surveillance devices, the question was the legislation actually commensurate with what was being investigated? I mean I could inadvertently nick someone’s finger while cutting my apple, and investigations could be launched into an aggravated assault. Aggravated assault carries maximum sentencing to allow a warrant for all sorts of invasive investigation techniques. The fact is the legislation used is disproportionate to the incident itself. These are the things that need to be looked into. And this has happened before, when Police are investigating each other. A look at why Laura Dewson was no longer with NT Police, her refusal to co operate with another nefarious witch hunt, would also disclose this sort of over reach in using these powers.
I am trying to keep track of golden handshake payouts!
