Scenes from Alice Springs to be illustrated on limited release coffee tins

A piece of Alice Springs’ heritage will be showcased on limited release Nescafe coffee tins, with scenes from the iconic Henley on Todd Regatta gracing the cans as part of Nestle’s national “Celebrate Community Spirit” campaign across Australia.

The tins will be launched next month and showcase six towns from across Australia that “demonstrate true Aussie community spirit”, the company said, with Alice Springs selected because the Henley on Todd Regatta “brings joy to the thousands of Aussies who come together, celebrating the uniqueness and mateship that makes the town so special”.

The illustrated design will be on limited edition 1kg tins of Nescafé Blend 43 available in October, but early tins were shared with attendees of the event back in August.

“After a two-year hiatus, seeing the Regatta featured on these tins and available across the country means a lot to us, and will leave us with a long-lasting keepsake,” said Peter Mostran, Commodore of the Henley on Todd Regatta.

“This event epitomises the uniqueness and mateship that Alice Springs is known for.”

This year, Nestlé Professional has donated $5,000 to the Rotary Club of Alice Springs to boost local community projects as well as providing the club tins to auction off.

The local club has decided to use the funding to support different community programs, including sending Indigenous students to the National Youth Science Forum, supporting the local Rotary Mental Health Project, assisting a local senior citizens residence and to help supply medical equipment to the paediatric ward at the hospital.

The funds will be used to send First Nation students to the National Youth Science Forum, support the local Rotary Mental Health Project, contribute to the Alice Springs Senior Citizens residence, as well as supply medical equipment to the pediatric ward of the Alice Springs Hospital.

“We are thrilled to partner with Nestlé Professional to help strengthen diverse areas of our community,” said Rotary Club of Alice Springs member Dominic Miller.

“The funds will help to reach many facets of our town and touch every generation. It’s tremendous that our people and the incredible community spirit of Alice Springs is celebrated through this partnership.”

With the donation, Nestlé Professional provided the Alice Springs Rotary with 384 limited-edition Nescafé Blend 43 Alice Springs tins to be sold or donated to the local community.

“The Henley on Todd Regatta was chosen to feature on our new tins as it is an incredible display of community spirit. It brings together thousands of people from across the country to celebrate what makes Alice Springs so special,” said Nestlé Professional Oceania General Manager Scott Stuckmann.

“Just as a cup of Nescafé Blend 43 brings people together to connect, we want to celebrate community events that do the same.”

The Nestlé Professional campaign showcases six Australian towns each with a unique story to tell about their community spirit.

The three towns featured on 1kg tins of Nescafé Blend 43 are Alice Springs, Boorowa and Mandurah. Another three towns, Charters Towers, Burnie, and Geelong are displayed on 1.9kg tins of Milo. Each tin displays an illustration of an event or a unique community story that brings people together.

The ‘Celebrate Community Spirit’ collection will be available from October 2022.
