Letter to the editor: Attempts to muzzle free press a danger to us all

Dear Editor,

I am both constantly and consistently appalled by the current government’s attempts to muzzle a free press in a democratic society.

Once upon a time we were promised an “open and transparent” government, yet the ban on your journalists’ attendance at their media conferences continues.

This is the antithesis of a democracy and it is a danger to us all.

It does not matter whether government spin doctors and their political masters like what you print, what is imperative is that you have the freedom to report on government initiatives and policies whether agreeable to those in positions of power or not.

Keep up the good work.
