The Northern Territory Awards for Cinematography were conducted at the Deckchair Cinema on Saturday night, as part of the Darwin International Film Festival. See the full list of winners.
Australian Cinematographers Society vice-president Andrew Hyde said there were more 50 entries presented to the judging panel, with Gold plaque winners becoming finalists in the ACS national awards to be held in May.
He said this year Northern Territory cinematographers took away a record twenty Gold plaques across categories as diverse as short film, news and current affairs, documentary and drama.
ABC cinematographer Mitchell Woolnough, who is currently based in Taiwan with the ABC, won two Gold plaques in the current affairs category, and with his entry Dead on Arrival receiving the Judges Award for the Best of Show.
“The volume of entries and the number of Gold Plaques awarded this year, highlights the increased depth and cross section of work now being developed for screen right across the Northern Territory” Mr Hyde said.
“Screen content is now being produced to the highest quality by Northern Territory cinematographers all over the world”.
