A head-on crash involving two motorcycles near Finke in Central Australia that sent both drivers to hospital, including one with serious head and pelvis injuries, is being investigated by NT Police.
Police and medical staff from a local clinic and St John Ambulance NT were dispatched to the accident site after police were notified of a head-on crash off the Maryvale Rd at 5:30 am Saturday morning.
One of the riders suffered head and pelvis injuries and was transferred to Adelaide in critical condition while the other suffered a severe jaw injury and remained at the Alice Springs Hospital.
It was clarified that both victims were not competitors in the Finke Desert Race. Police reminded road users to drive to conditions and not to drink and drive.
