Former Australian Federal Police commissioner Reece Kershaw has been hired by St John Ambulance NT in a new undisclosed role, following the appointment of a new chief executive, while both the NT branch and St John Ambulance Australia declined to respond to an allegation that a preferred CEO candidate was proposed by the federal body and rejected by the NT organisation.
Deputy Chief Minister Gerard Maley’s chief of staff Abigail Trewin was announced late last week as the new CEO of the troubled organisation, with the politician paying tribute to her in a press release announcing the appointment but failing to disclose she was working for him.

Both Reece and St John NT leaders would be fully aware that details of any new role with an organisation that holds a contract with the NTG and a social contract with the community will inevitably and rightly become public knowledge, so not being upfront about it is pretty disappointing. Particularly when we recall his stated reason for retiring early as AFP Commissioner was to spend more time with family incl grandchildren
