An Alice Springs woman is recovering in hospital after being struck by a car in what police are calling a domestic violence incident.

Authorities are seeking the public’s help to find the driver, who police said may have been the woman’s current partner, who is currently “a person of interest” in the crime.

At around 12:30 am Thursday morning, police say a blue sedan entered a convenience store carpark on Gap Road where the woman was walking and drove into her, pinning her against a parked vehicle before the driver reversed and fled the scene.

The woman suffered lower body injuries and was transported to the Alice Springs Hospital. She is currently in a stable condition, police said.

Investigations are still on-going in relation to the identity of the driver.

NT Police urge anyone who may have information on the incident to call them on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersnt.com.au

They also reminded the public that if you or someone you know is a victim of domestic or family violence, to report it to police on 131 444 or call 000 in an emergency.
