A fatal single-vehicle crash in Bees Creek early Saturday that claimed the life of a 24-year-old man and sent two others to hospital is being investigated by NT Police.

Police received a report at around 12:15 am Saturday that a Toyota Hilux carrying two males and a female had rolled over on Lowther Road.

All three occupants suffered serious injuries and were rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital where one of the occupants, a 24-year-old male later died from his injuries.

St John NT spokesman Craig Garraway said paramedics, police and fire services worked to save lives at the “nasty scene” that also one of the occupants impaled on a star picket.

“One was trapped in that vehicle, another one had been ejected from that vehicle and reports of one had been impaled on a star picket,” Mr Garraway said.

“So quite a nasty scene there and police, fire and ambulance all attended and paramedics took those people to hospital quite rapidly, all who were in serious conditions.”

The 24-year-old died at hospital. A 21-year-old woman and 25-year-old man were passengers in the vehicle and remain in Royal Darwin Hospital in stable conditions.

“Major Crash detectives have been on scene throughout the night investigating the circumstances around the crash. A report will be prepared for the Coroner,” Detective Senior Sergeant Corey Borton said.
