Police call for witnesses to assault in Alawa

A woman who was jogging in Alawa Friday morning was assaulted by an unidentified male attacker, NT police said.

Northern Territory Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man described as light-skinned Aboriginal in appearance, around 5”9 ft (185 cm) in height, slim build, and with shoulder length black curly hair.

Police said the 35-year-old woman was jogging over the Jingili foot bridge heading towards Lakeside Drive in Alawa when the offender approached her and allegedly assaulted her.

The victim screamed for help and the attacker ran off, police said.

NT Police said the offender was unarmed at the time of the assault.

Authorities did not mention if the victim had sustained any injuries.

The Northern Territory Police urge any witness of the incident or any recent similar crime in the surrounding areas over the past few weeks to contact 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference number 9358447.
