Nobody who has worked on any NTG IT project is surprised they are all a mess!
In Interviews with SERPRO contractors and staff, the interviewing managers where Teflon Dons, not responsible for anything! The interviews where very concerning as it came across all responsibility fell on the contractors and executives where merely Observers, not getting any hands dirty!
The Nepotism and Cronyism in the NT is to blame. NT locals with bugger all experience and/or laughable qualifications where managing the projects!!
SerPro has a old CLP politicians son steering it! Well done CLP! Health Department’s Acacia has the relative of the disgraced former Health CIO steering it! The former Health CIO questionably implemented a custom Health system (the predesscors of Acacia) which no one in Australia would touch with a barge pole. Why he did not use a system that was used by any of the 300 plus Hospitals in Australia, is the subject of much discussion, before his sudden and unexplained removal as CIO of Health!! I hear the former Gardner of RDH is now a senior IT Director.
The former CEO of DCDD for the last few years has not kicked one goal to his name! How many failed systems have been cancelled?
Where is he now? I hear he is a Health CEO ,screaming at Medical Executives, who can simply walk out and work anywhere in the world (unlike the NT Public Servants who would starve to death in any other State)!
I again call on all interstate contractors working on failed NTG projects, quit and go and get a sane contract in NSW/VIC/QLD where you do not have to navigate the “who is so and so’s son or daughter” minefield. Let the talented , high school educated Territorians ,build their own crap!
No surprises there. The SERPRO rollout was a complete cluster. Once again the fat cats in DCDD get overpaid, do nothing and are never accountable… they will simply move onto their next misadventure.
There is a deeply embedded pernicious rot at the heart of NTG governance. It cannot be fixed. Which Ministers and CEOs were responsible for the design, implementation, funding, monitoring and inter-agency coordination of these high risk IT projects? Will the A/G’s report be debated in our NT parliament? Will ICAC investigate? Cui Bono?
