The Northern Territory Government has appointed a new NT Worksafe senior director more than 14 months after the previous boss left.
Attorney-General Natasha Fyles said in a statement Bill Esteves had close to 20 years experience in the public and private sectors in areas related to health and safety, regulatory compliance and prosecutions.
She said Mr Esteves is the current chief transformation officer and group general manager for health, safety, environment and quality management with Kings Transport, an international transport and logistics company operating in Australia and New Zealand.
Previously, Mr Esteves led the Queensland’s Greyhound Commission of Inquiry, and Queensland’s Independent Review of the Taxi Industry in response to disruption from Uber, she said.
Stephen Gelding left as senior director of NT Worksafe in February and has since become the Northern Territory Consumer Affairs Commissioner.
