EXCLUSIVE: A video of Barkly Regional Council Mayor Jeffrey McLaughlin sitting on an Indigenous child while another man puts his booted foot on the child’s head while threatening to kill him has been reported to NT Police, the NT Independent can reveal.
The video, which is understood to have been shot in Tennant Creek at an unknown date, shows Mr McLaughlin sitting on the child who is lying on the ground with his face close towards the grass. The Mayor appears to be pushing buttons on his phone, while an unknown man screams abuse and threatens to kill the child.
Not a good look for him with all the issues around Tennant Creek council.
