Two people have been arrested in connection to two armed attacks at the GEMCO Groote Eylandt mine site that saw a female employee held up with an axe by several men and significant property damage caused, resulting in lockdowns of the mine over the weekend and again on Tuesday.
Sources told the NT Independent that several men had attacked staff on Saturday with axes, including the female employee who was allegedly threatened with an axe before a male co-worker intervened, with the pair running to a break room where the attackers allegedly smashed the windows resulting in the male worker getting glass in his eyes.
If the security guards had guns, this would not happen!!
