The nineteen-year-old man who allegedly abducted a nine-year-old girl from her home while she slept has been charged by NT Police.
The man was charged Tuesday with abduction of a child under 16 years and trespassing on “enclosed premises”, according to police.
Police allege the man removed the sleeping girl from her home on Scheelite Crescent on Sunday morning around 12:30 am. She allegedly later woke up outside of a nearby unit complex, screamed at the man and ran home to her family who called police.
The man will appear in Alice Springs Local Court on Wednesday, July 22. He has not been named.
Police are reminding parents, carers and children to remember the four R’s: Recognise the danger; Refuse any offer; Run away; and Report it to the first person they feel safe with.
