A crime spree through Katherine East overnight resulted in multiple crime scenes with NT Police calling for witnesses after four youths with an “edged weapon” allegedly threatened different residents while breaking into multiple homes, while in another incident, a male with his face covered allegedly robbed two women at a hotel.
Police received the first report around 9:30pm, when it was alleged the four youths armed with the weapon attempted to break into a home on Sandalwood Crescent before being scared off by an occupant.
Police said the group then broke into two homes on Gregory Court and Martin Terrace where they “threatened the occupants before stealing personal items and causing damage”.
They then allegedly attempted to enter another home on Providence Court but were unsuccessful.
Around 11:20pm, the same group then allegedly threatened the occupants of a home on De Julia Court, which turned into a “disturbance” police said, with the group fleeing before police arrived.
Then at 2:45am, two women staying at a hotel in Cyprus Street were confronted by a male who had his face covered and allegedly threatened the pair before leaving with a wallet.
The crime spree resulted in police calling for information that could lead to identities of the suspects.
“As a result, a number of crime scenes were established, and investigations have commenced to identify the offenders involved,” police said in a press release.
