Informa Connect Australia will be hosting this year’s Northern Territory Resources Week, bringing together three of Northern Australia’s leading industry events on September 13 and 14 at the Darwin Convention Centre.
The NT is poised to become a supermarket of LNG, energy, hydrogen, and critical minerals to meet surging global demand and drive decarbonisation. As such, plans are well underway with the development of the $1.5 billion Federal Government funded Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct, which is a game changer for resource project development in the NT.
Onshore gas projects in the NT continue to advance, providing exciting economic growth and infrastructure potential. The NT also continues to explore opportunities for new large-scale solar, battery storage and other key enablers of the renewable energy transition.
This year is also likely to see several Final Investment Decisions made on leading projects in the NT, creating new opportunities for the service and supply sector.
The South East Asia Australia Offshore & Onshore Conference (SEAAOC) is Northern Australia’s largest and longest-established petroleum conference, which brings together major players in Australasia’s oil, gas and petroleum industries.
This year’s SEAAOC conference centres on energy security for the Territory, Australia, and the South East Asia region, and will explore key themes such as Australia’s energy transition and ambitions to develop a clean energy supply chain, along with critical minerals development.
The global economic outlook, onshore and offshore gas updates, Australia’s energy security, and the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct will be included in the key themes this year, among many others.
An impressive line-up of speakers will attend the SEAAOC conference including Hon Nicole Manison MLA; Hon Madeleine King MP, INPEX president for Australia Tetsu Murayama, OECD secretary-general Mathias Cormann, Tamboran Resources CEO Joel Riddle, Empire Energy managing director Alex Underwood, and Fortescue Future Industries Director Australia-West Michael Gunner, among others.
Mining the Territory, which is Northern Australia’s leading mining industry conference, will also be a part of SEAAOC. Discussions about the mining sector this year include operational and development insights from existing and near-term mines; government views on sector development, growth strategies, and ongoing initiatives; updates from NT’s prospective explorers and geological experts, and opportunities for critical minerals in the NT.
Mining the Territory will also look at how the NT minerals sector is engaging with locals, supporting its communities and ensuring local content, the outlook for skills shortages in the NT, and how mining operations can be decarbonized, plus other critical topics.
Speakers for this event include Shadow Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Mining and Industry and Aboriginal Affairs Steven Edgington MLA, Arafura Resources managing director Gavin Lockyer, Tivan executive chairman Grant Wilson, and Minerals Council of Australia executive director for NT Cathryn Tilmouth, and other top mining executives.
This year’s Northern Territory Resources Week will also see more critical issues discussed in an Environmental Management & Decarbonisation Forum that brings together environmental practitioners and members of the resources industry to showcase ways for the mining and onshore gas sectors to better manage their environmental impact, while also supporting stakeholder engagement and regional development.
Discussion at this forum will include government initiatives; approvals and investments; project and development environmental updates from major mining and onshore gas companies; accelerating the energy transition in resources and positioning the NT for net-zero emissions; and renewable energy projects – hydrogen, carbon capture utilisation and storage; and much more.
Forum speakers include Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water Security Hon Lauren Moss MLA, Dr Andrew Ross and Dr Cameron Huddlestone-Holmes from CSIRO, Tamboran Resources vice president for sustainability Scott Crabtree, and Glencore McArthur River mining manager external relations and business performance Adam Hatfield, among others.
