First off, if you think that someone like Marie-Clare Boothby is Attorney-General because of a merit selection process, the cream rising to the top for example, so that the AG Office is legally on top of this kind of stuff then you are drunk on the same blindness inducing Kool Aid as Boof.
‘Asked if her government has zero tolerance for allegations of fraud and corruption in the public service, Ms Boothby said: “I’m not sure what kind of question that is, but what I can say is that government is here for Territorians and we will continue to invest in things like cricket, invest in things like our beautiful tourism destination, that we are…”’
Saying in public, with a straight face no doubt, that she doesn’t understand the question to then talk about cricket is a long used and well worn political strategy.
It’s designed to get us all to want to give up on her and her office and to make us stop asking relevant questions and asking for evidence of accountability. Think ‘sand in the gears’.
Next, here are some more fun facts from the public internet, yes all of them. Seek and ye shall find. Make special note of names, relationships and places of work: Shields, Ryan, Kirkman, Burke, Hayes, Lawler, Shanahan, SFNT/NT Government Legal Offices.
The following information is an example of some of the long term rot in the system.
Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission: Appointment of Chair, Deputy Chair and Members

E. D. LAWLER Minister for Industry and Trade Dated 12 July 2024 Schedule Ian Arthur Curnow Scott Douglas Perrin Rachael Jane Shanahan
Many of Alastair Shields’ fellow students, such as Michael Grant, Sue Porter and Duncan McConnel, are now in senior positions in the NT legal profession. After a time….he became a junior lawyer with the Solicitor for the Northern Territory. Before long…..he became a senior lawyer and ultimately Director Commercial and Executive Director of Legal Services.
Andrew Kirkman should have attended 6 meetings a year in Darwin Waterfront Corp (DWC), from their reports:
2018-19 he attended 3/6 2019-20 he attended 4/6 2020-21 he attended 3/6 2021-22 he attended 6/6 2022-23 he attended 3/6 2023-24 he attended 2/6
Andrew Kirkman’s sister, Jodie Ryan (old heads will remember her handprints all over certain scandals, check NTI and ABC for details) was appointed a board member of DWC 31 March 2021.
She resigned from there on 15 July 2022. She attended only 4 of her 6 meetings that year.
NT Beverages Funding (2019): Ms. Ryan faced scrutiny over her involvement in approving over $10 million in public funds to NT Beverages, a company that subsequently went into voluntary administration. Critics questioned the investment decision, given the company’s financial instability.
Procurement Contract Scandal (2019): Ms Ryan was implicated in the procurement contract scandal in the department in 2019, that saw two of her subordinates inexplicably alter scores of a procurement contract to hire a headhunting agency that ultimately recommended Jamie Chalker as police commissioner.
Another strange member in DWC is Tracey Hayes although in 2018-2019 she attended 5 out of 6 meetings and the following year 2019-2020 she did attend all 6 of her 6 meetings.
She was the first female Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association and also in 2020. Ms. Hayes contested the Fannie Bay seat in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly as the Country Liberal Party candidate, challenging Chief Minister Michael Gunner.
Sam Burke, husband of LiaR Finocchiaro and son of Denis Burke ex-CLP CM (following Shane Stone’s resignation, the same Shane Stone who gave a speech after Little LiaR won the election in 2024 about how he ran her successful campaign) from a NT Government website:
In 2011, Sam transitioned to the public sector and became a Public Prosecutor for the Northern Territory Government. Sam then worked as a Ministerial Advisor before being appointed as the Chief of Staff. In 2016, they became the General Manager of the Darwin Waterfront Corporation and also took on the role of Project Administrator for Darwin Cove Convention Centre Pty Ltd.
In 2018, Sam became the Executive Director of Strategic Infrastructure and Projects, and in 2019, they were promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer of the AustralAsia Railway Corporation [with Andrew Kirkman and Alastair Shields].
Sam’s most recent position is Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Darwin Waterfront Corporation within the Northern Territory Government. Furthermore, they are also a Board Member at Place Leaders Asia Pacific. Overall, Sam Burke has demonstrated a diverse and extensive work history in various leadership and legal roles.
Keep digging, keep asking questions and you’ll uncover more, then keep sharing please.
Has anyone else just realized why the highly respected Chief Minister is front and center and has her face everywhere and does most of the talking????
Because the other 16 CLP idiots are not allowed out of the building without a swathe of media advisors!!! Where on Gods Earth did the CLP dinosaurs find these speacial people? I blame The CLP Candidate Selection Committees!
This is gunner be a long 2 weeks with the Chief Minister on holidays!
