The Finocchiaro Government has announced the former Power and Water Corporation managing director Andrew Macrides as the organisation’s new chair, effective immediately, giving the CLP life member and former party treasurer a salary of more than $200,000.
The NT News reported the announcement followed chief executive Djuna Pollard’s announcement the previous day that she would finish in the role on September 30 after six years.
Treasurer and Shareholding Minister Bill Yan said Mr Macrides had extensive experience in senior leadership roles across the Northern Territory public sector, including health, housing, community services, tourism and PWC.
Mr Yan, who announced the appointment this morning, said Mr Macrides began the role today, but did not mention Ms Pollard’s departure.
Mr Macrides has served on the NT Civil and Administrative Tribunal. The NT News reported he was replaced as PWC managing director in 2013 after the Mills CLP Government split the organisation, with PWC retaining responsibility for the poles and wires, Territory Generation taking over electricity generation, and Jacana Energy assuming the retail business.
An accountant by training, Mr Macrides was appointed PWC managing director in 2007 after joining the organisation in 1998 and serving as business services general manager and chief financial officer.

Congratulations to Andrew Macrides on his thoroughly deserved appointment as Chair of the Power and Water Corporation. Andrew is highly qualified, ethical, accomplished and a leader of substance – one of the finest senior executives to serve Territorians in the forty-eight years since Self-Goverment. He will continue to do so.
