The Finocchiaro CLP Government has ordered yet another inquiry to explore voluntary assisted dying laws in the Northern Territory – less than a year after the last comprehensive inquiry – which comes amid pressure in Parliament on the government to finally implement the laws and opposition from the Australia Christian Lobby.
Attorney-General Marie Clare Boothby issued a statement Wednesday morning, ahead of motions to be brought on the matter by independent MLA Justine Davis and the Opposition Labor Party, stating she has ordered the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee to undertake an inquiry into last year’s inquiry’s final report.
