Hope Claire Martin can pull some credible, useful, intelligent candidates together for the next election. We seem to have a government and public service with deep rot in their ethics and integrity; Labor didn’t listen to the electorate, and it sounds like they aren’t listening to their supporters either. Maybe they should just pack it in and back some decent independents instead? I can’t stand the CLP, but I’d be cautious about voting Labor again either!
Maybe they can start with some transparency and accountability policy, including a moratorium on elected members jumping smoothly from politics to cushy jobs in the fossil fuel industry. Goodness knows the CLP won’t do this…maybe dare to be different?

We can only hope the colostomy bag carrying geriatrics at CLP HQ can do the same!
The ALP (who I dont think highly of) at least where not on the nose for the first term! This CLP rabble’s fantastic example of picking candidates who are not a threat to a particular persons leadership, is on the nose due to cluelessness!
Is it true that the CLP picked a (alleged) backyard hairdresser over a local business person for the Katherine seat? Well congratulations, the NT now has as the head of quarter of total NTG headcount at the vital Department of Education (with its poor educational outcomes) is a fully qualified hair dresser who makes former Education Minister Eva Lawler like a Harvard University Professor.
The rusted on CLP voters are not so rusted on, hopefully theirs a alternative option for the Aug 2028 NT election who are willing to take on bankrupting labour debt, fix disastrous crime policies and tackle the over bloated 28000* strong NT Public Service who invisibly employs a tonne of contractors and labour hire staff to look after a measly 203,605 Teritorians (which is the same population as Hobart!) Do we really need 7.2 Public** Servants per Territoran?
*ABS stats **Not including Labour hire and contractors or Council or Federal Gov workers.
Clare Martin is an excellent choice to guide Territory Labor forward in a positive manner. They sure need it.
Territory Labor went backwards after Clare left the helm, with some very dodgy characters like Kent Rowe taking up positions of power.
You’re right, Megan, in your suggestion around developing transparency and accountability policies. A very good place to start.
Former pollies (e.g. Michael Gunner and Nicole Manison) who jumped ship and very quickly aligned themselves with the fossil fuel industries are guilty of betraying their espoused values.
The tag line in my election tilt in 2016 was ‘We Deserve Better’. Let’s see if Territory Labor can deliver.
Hang on…Was not the main star of the show on the highly hyped “Territory Dream Team ” tasked with cutting red tape and attracting business to the NT???…..and in true Labor fashion, accomplished nothing except bank some excellent renumeration?

@Lola:
The CLPALP Alliance will have a new horse in the race, unencumbered by malignant NTG connections and ready to clean up NT politics:

You won’t find any other group with more cast iron ethical action to back up their words.
