CareFlight has been given $19.95 million by the federal government to buy a second helicopter and an aeromedical jet, Health and Aged Care Minister Mark Butler has said.

Mr Butler said in the statement the Gulfstream G150 jet would allow CareFlight to rapidly respond to medical emergencies, and provide support to other crisis events across the region and the country.
