The Fyles Government will employ a consultant to recommend changes to government oversight of the building industry, which could include a building commissioner, the Infrastructure and Planning Minister Eva Lawler said.

In a statement Ms Lawler said the government was considering having a building commissioner and that presently, building licensing, regulation and dispute resolution were administered by three separate government departments.
