Instead of: Every corridor of CDU being plastered with VOTE YES to the Voice (the amount of effort was amazing and God help your career if you even hinted any slight opposition) Heavy DEI Hiring targets of Lecturers that the paying customers cannot comprehend and end up complaining about (Where on Gods Earth did they find them?) Heavy focus on obtaining LGBTQ Books at the Library every fortnight whilst the relevant domain specific books are 30 years old and turning yellow due to oxidisation. Every Administration employee being a CDU Graduate to bolster the only Marketing KPI CDU has, Higher Graduate pay straight out of Uni (and despite their newly minted qualification not aligning with their admin roles) Passing every student despite their academic outcomes (Nobody fails at CDU) Stop the Emergency Food Hampers! They are in breach of their Visas if they dont have the funds to be here. Stop the SEVEN Welcome to Country speeches per meeting whilst Security are removing indigenous people from the campus in a very unwelcoming way? How many security guards at CDU Cavanah street have they got to stop the onslaught of locals walking across the road from that Iconic Tourism Destination the CBD Woolworths Bus stop! Pretending to be indigenous friendly (art work, totems, speechs) when theres single digit indigenous studying at CDU! The look of horror and shock on the graduation ceremony attendees when a indigenous student gives a speech giving advice on how they passed their difficult classes, omitting the $60 per hour tax payer funded tutors they get at CDU!!
Why doesn’t the alleged institution of education, instead; -focus on its core business of providing verified Australian Standards compliant courses to people who actually turned up and put in the effort to pass the qualification without the assistance of FREELANCER.COM. -stop with the online tests and exams, which sees 5-10 students in the Library rooms conduct their tests together whilst comparing notes on answers. Ironically when these same students attend a physically attended exam room, the exam marks plummet! These same students will be working in the same building as you in a few years!
There are many confused, new, CDU Lecturers who failed students only to learn, the students “magically” passed.
There are many more angry local employers who look upon the brand “Charles Darwin University” with dismay!
The facts are CDU needed to increase revenue and reduce overheads fast. How else was it going to pay to keep the lights on in its brand new campus in the centre of Darwin.
The new CDU city campus was not Bowman’s faux pas he inherited it, but now he has to find a way of paying for it.
So CDU needed revenue fast or face large staff redundancies. The plan was as many students through the door as possible but with less resources available to manage them. What we see from the current TAFE crisis is a manifestation of this strategy.
