A 39-year-old man in Malak has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a 47-year-old man with an edged weapon, NT Police said, less than three weeks after a separate, fatal assault in the suburb.

Police said they received reports of the latest incident around 10pm on Sunday.

The offender allegedly assaulted the victim with an edged weapon at a residence in Malak.

Police did not give details as to what may have triggered the altercation or if both men were known to each other.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

Police said the victim is in a stable condition.

Serious Crime Squad detectives said an investigation is continuing.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said the suspect was arrested early Monday morning and is in police custody.

He urged anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact them on 131 444 and quote reference 9866940.

Meanwhile, on November 16, police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly killing another man in Malak.

NT Police said they responded to the incident around 5:40pm where the offender assaulted the 42-year-old victim, who was declared dead on the scene.
