Up to four youths remain on the run after allegedly attempting to break into a home and assaulting a 50-year-old man, leaving him with a serious hand injury, NT Police said.

Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 11:20pm Tuesday, police received a report of youths attempting to break into a home on Tabletop Place in the Darwin suburb of Malak, where a woman in her 80s and a man in his 50s were inside.
