UPDATED: The young child who died while trapped inside a burning home in Alice Springs on Thursday morning was just three-years-old, it has been revealed, in a scene that has rattled first responders in the town.

Emergency services were called to the fire at a public housing residence in Larapinta just after 10:30am, after receiving reports that a person was trapped inside the home that was on fire.
