Police dog Drax tracked and located a 17-year-old male hiding in bushland in Palmerston after he allegedly broke into a business on Yarrawonga Road overnight, NT Police said.

Police received a report of an unlawful entry around 1am and saw two males fleeing the business into nearby bushland when they arrived.

Drax was then deployed and found the 17-year-old hiding nearby and arrested.

Police are continuing efforts to locate the second offender.

“This arrest highlights the incredible asset police dogs are when searching for offenders in difficult terrain,” said Acting Senior Sergeant Riva Zio.

“You can certainly run from Drax, but you can’t hide from him.”
