Two 13-year-old girls allegedly threatened a woman with a ‘blunt object’ outside her home In Alice Springs, with one later allegedly breaking into the house through a window, while a man was allegedly threatened with an ‘edged’ weapon outside his home in another suburb and told to get into a vehicle, NT Police said.

Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 1.15pm on Thursday police received a report of an intruder at a home on Bokhara Street in Larapinta.

“A 61-year-old female victim had returned home from work and observed a group of youths outside her driveway,” Mr Wilton said.

“Two youths, one allegedly armed with a blunt object, have approached the victim, and demanded she hand over her vehicle keys and handbag, which she refused.

“The offenders initially fled the scene but returned a short time later. One offender allegedly gained access to the residence by breaking a window,” Mr Wilton said.

Police said there was nothing stolen from the house but three 13-year-old girls were arrested at an unidentified time and place by police after a “short foot pursuit” by Strike Force Viper, Dog Operations Unit, and general duties officers.

The three teens were remanded into custody, and police said they will appear in court today, but there was no mention of what they were charged with.

Police also alleged that at 4am Friday four male youths went to a home in Mount Johns in a Silver Toyota Camry that had been stolen from another property two days earlier.

“The offenders have allegedly searched through the front yard and unsuccessfully tried to gain access to the residence and two parked vehicles in the driveway,” Mr Wilton said.

“The offenders were startled by the occupant and fled the scene in the Camry.

“At 4.15am, another occupant was approached by the offenders outside his residence on Ragonesi Road in Ross.

“Three of the offenders allegedly threatened him with a edged weapon and attempted to force him into the vehicle while stealing items. The victim was then directed by the offenders back to his residence where they made demands for money.”

Mr Wilton said the alleged offenders left before police arrived, leaving the car behind, and have not been caught.
