A woman was killed and a man injured in a crash on Litchfield Park Road at Charlotte on Sunday, NT Police said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said in statement that about 4:30pm Sunday police received a report that a vehicle carrying two people had crashed on Litchfield Park Road about 45km from the intersection of Cox Peninsula Road.

He said a 29-year-old woman was killed at the scene, while a 36-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

“The female passenger was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash,” Snr Sgt Lindner said.

“Major Crash detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and will await forensic toxicology results to determine whether the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”

Police are asking anyone “familiar with those involved” who may be able to help the investigation to call them on 131 444 (quote reference NTP2400047173).
