A woman’s electric scooter was stolen late at night in Alice Springs by two male youths who blocked her path, hit her on the wrist and pulled it away from her, NT Police said.

Police Director of Communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 11.15pm on Friday, police were told a 27-year-old woman had been riding her electric scooter on Kempe Street, The Gap, when she was approached by the two youths.

“The youths allegedly blocked her path, demanding she hand over her scooter, before one of the offenders struck her on her wrist and physically pulled the scooter from her grasp,” Mr Wilton said.

He said the woman did not suffer any injuries and the youths left on the scooter heading south on Gap Road.

Police also said that in the unspecified early hours of Saturday morning, two 13-year-old boys were arrested over an unspecified and unrelated alleged crime and police were working to establish any link between the arrest and the scooter theft.

The scooter, a black Segway-Ninebot Electric KickScooter, has not been found and was last seen on Hartley Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.
