The CLP inherited a shit show! Give them 12 months. If things aren’t on the up by then, I’ll be the first to call them out.
The ongoing internal battles faced by these organisations along with lack of consequences for criminals has created the perfect storm. Claims that Aboriginals are over-represented in the system reflects on lack of attention by government to address the causes of crime and a lack of will in communities to address their own issues.
We need legal aid to work there is just to many different versions catering to to many different demographics.bring them all back into one system with one demographic “Australians” easier to monitor,one set of rules etc etc.
When it comes to funding, why does the train wreck that is NAAJA and Nt Legal Aid remind me of trying to fill a sink without bothering to put the plug in?
This is crazy. How can these people go to court unrepresented? It strikes at the very heart of the justice system. And leaves a solid NO.
Legal Aid is for blak & whites. Many disempowered white women fleeing DV or having been employed in low income employment are just as vulnerable as Aboriginals needing legal assistance.
This apartheid ideology in the NT hurts all Australians. We are all heading backwards in the NT, should also investigate & expose the corrupt greedy, NTG Judges & lawyers who sweep in & over-charge & lie to clients, it’s a broken system.
