A woman was treated in Alice Springs Hospital for head and chest injuries after being assaulted by another woman in the street, NT Police said.

NT government crime marketing manager Sita Bacher said in a statement that between 1am and 3am on Saturday, a 40-year-old woman was assaulted, allegedly by an unknown female, on the corner of South Terrace and Kempe St.

She said the victim was treated for head and chest injuries at Alice Spring’s Hospital.

Police are interested in speaking with the person who recorded the assault and posted it on social media.

Anyone with information on the assault is asked to call police 131 444 and to quote reference code NTP2400012388, or to make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
