A man who allegedly stabbed his partner multiple times in the back, and slashed her ear, in Palmerston has been arrested, NT Police said.
Acting Sergeant Thomas Briggs said in a statement police had been told a woman with multiple stab wounds in her back, and a cut across her ear, had been found at a carpark near the Palmerston bus exchange about 9pm Wednesday.
He said the woman was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital, with injuries believed to be non-life threatening, while police arrested her 21-year-old partner after he returned to the scene a short time later.
Sgt Briggs said the man was in custody and he expected him to be charged. He credited witnesses coming forward as being pivotal in police being able to make the arrest.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them on 131 444, and for anyone who witnesses or experiences domestic or family violence to call police on 131 444, or call 000 in an emergency.
