Witnesses sought after taxi passenger allegedly had knife put to throat by man demanding cash

A bare-foot man in a black hoodie allegedly held a knife to the throat of a taxi passenger and demanded cash in the car park of a shopping centre in Wagaman last night.

Northern Territory Police said at about 10:00pm, a taxi driver was approached by the unidentified barefoot-man Monday night.

It was undisclosed what the man told the taxi driver.   

The alleged robber went to the passenger side of the taxi and held a knife to the throat of the passenger as he demanded money, police said.

The unidentified man was handed $200. But he demanded more money from the vehicle occupants before fleeing the scene when another taxi arrived.

The number of passengers in the taxi was not disclosed. The victims were not injured, according to police.

NT Police described the alleged robber as being of Aboriginal appearance with a light complexion, thin build, and approximately 5’9”. He was wearing a black hoodie and was barefoot.
