Territory Day 2024 will offer Territorians the opportunity to revel in a night filled with explosions and spectacular displays, music, and other festivities, offering its unique blend of danger and merrymaking.
This year’s theme, “It’s a Territory thing,” celebrates people’s connection with the NT and the unique things that can only be done in the jurisdiction, such as lighting fireworks for one night only – and the days that follow.
Professional fireworks displays will be held at 21 locations from Nhulunbuy to Yuendumu, with signature events in Darwin and Alice Springs.
ARIA Award-winning artist Budjerah, singer-songwriter Steph Strings, Bobbly Fleet Orchestra, and The Melophobics will perform at Mindil Beach for Darwin’s celebrations.
It is recommended that attendees bring a picnic blanket and take advantage of the food trucks on hand. The festivities begin at 4 pm and end at 8.15 pm with the big fireworks display.
Free bus services from Darwin, Casuarina, and Palmerston interchanges will be provided to Mindil Beach for the Mindil Beach cracker night celebrations.
Anzac Oval will now host Alice Springs festivities, the last event before construction starts on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Gallery of Australia.
In addition to Katanga Junior, the James Range Band will participate in the Red Centre celebrations. Both bands performed at last year’s Warm-Up to support Paul Kelly.
A fireworks display will be held at 7:30 pm during the alcohol-free event. Festivities will run from 5 pm to 8:15 pm.
Food trucks will also be available on-site.
“Right across the NT, locals and visitors are encouraged to attend the free events and immerse themselves in the festivities and celebrations around them. If you are coming to the iconic Mindil Beach celebrations, please note personal fireworks are not allowed; however, if you are buying your own and going somewhere else, please be safe and, of course, have fun,” the government said.
