NT Police will not say if it is investigating an officer who a court found intentionality inserted her finger into a suspect’s vagina during a search, claiming it would be inappropriate to comment while the decision was subject to an appeal, but an independent MLA has said the agency must comply with its own transparency obligations.
MLA Mark Turner also said that recent events with police were shaking the public’s confidence in the police senior executive and the Lawler Government, who have failed to hold wrongdoers accountable for their actions.
