Where is the cheapest petrol in the Territory?

Two of the NT’s most unlikely towns are leading the way in providing motorists with huge savings at the bowser.

Unleaded petrol is available at both Tennant Creek and Adelaide River for around the $1 mark – the first two locations in the Territory to pass on savings which have become common place in most southern states due to falling world oil prices.

Petrolspy.com.au has Threeways Roadhouse at Tennant Creek selling unleaded at 98 cents per litre, currently the cheapest in the NT, while the BP at Adelaide River Inn has unleaded at 100 cents per litre.

The United Service Station in Tennant Creek is the next best at 103.6 cents per litre.

Prices in Darwin today ranged from 118.9 to 123.7, with the exclusion of FuelXpress in Winnellie which was 114.9 c/l.

Palmerston fared a little better with prices between 114.5 c/l and 119.5 c/l, while the United in Howard Springs was selling unleaded for 109.9 c/l.

On Sunday, the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s weekly petrol prices report had average retail prices in Darwin at 120.9 c/l for unleaded petrol, well above other capital cities including Brisbane (90.7 c/l unleaded) and Sydney (93.9 c/l unleaded).
